Nine Diagnostics was selected for the inaugural cohort of the CancerHackerLab Accelerator, announced in October 2024. CancerHackerLab is a cancer-focused innovation accelerator supporting early-stage companies developing technologies to improve cancer prevention, detection, and treatment outcomes. Nine Diagnostics’ selection placed it among the first group of oncology-focused companies chosen for the program’s launch cohort.
CancerHackerLab was established to accelerate cancer innovation by connecting early-stage companies with clinical mentors, biopharma industry advisors, cancer patient advocates, and a peer community spanning the oncology ecosystem. The program’s structure reflects the recognition that oncology companies face a convergence of scientific, regulatory, clinical, and reimbursement challenges that require multi-stakeholder engagement from an early stage. Participating companies meet weekly as a cohort, completing structured exercises and receiving curated feedback from clinicians, operators, and translational researchers. The inaugural cohort ran through the fall of 2024, with the weekly program built around peer-to-peer collaboration, external advisory input, and structured problem-solving across participating companies’ shared challenges.
Nine Diagnostics joined the inaugural cohort as the company was advancing its platform’s application to solid tumor immunotherapy monitoring. The cohort included companies working across cancer prevention, patient navigation, clinical decision support, diagnostics, and advocacy, creating a cross-functional network that complemented Nine Diagnostics’ work to define its clinical deployment pathway and commercial strategy. Cohort peers included Sagely Health, Protean BioDX, Rabble Health, Wild Type Advocates, We Are Here, and others in the inaugural class.
Selection into CancerHackerLab’s inaugural cohort came as Nine Diagnostics was building its first set of accelerator engagements in its founding year, alongside The Engine‘s Blueprint program (September 2024) and the Merck Digital Sciences Studio Cohort 3 (November 2024), reflecting early multi-sector recognition of both the platform’s scientific potential and the company’s commercial direction in oncology diagnostics.
About Nine Diagnostics
Nine Diagnostics is an AI-enabled multi-omic nanosensor company advancing precision medicine. The platform simultaneously captures proteomic, metabolomic, and lipidomic signals alongside patient clinical context to generate a multi-omic fingerprint, using machine learning to identify disease-relevant patterns without requiring prior knowledge of which biomarkers matter. This enables pre-treatment patient stratification, on-treatment response monitoring, and post-treatment minimal residual disease detection. Founded by Freddy T. Nguyen, MD, PhD (CEO), Daniel A. Heller, PhD (CSO), and Mijin Kim, PhD (Scientific Advisor), Nine Diagnostics is based in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
